CGR_GV018 | DJ Sw@t's debut ressy show | DnB/DubStep
Hello all,
Sorry for the hiatus with these podcasts...other Cyber Groove biz interfered with us putting on the show properly but it will not happen again.
This show was a special one, it was the debut of our new ressy DJ Sw@t (also part of the Cyber Groove AM family)...you'll be able to tune into her sounds every 1st Thursday of the month.
DL the mix below:
CGR_GV018
Here is a little info on DJ Sw@t for ya in case your just crawling out of your bunker
DJ Sw@t

[HI-REV | CYBER GROOVE | DNB GIRLS | SUPREME HUSTLE]
http://www.CyberGrooveAM.com/swat.html
\\BIO
Most deejay’s that embrace the art of mixing records may never put the time and effort to progress past their bedroom door. This isn’t the case with dj Sw@t, who has been hustling non-stop to ensure her spot in the drum&bass hierarchy. Since 2005 Sw@t has been a driving force of new urban sounds in the humble city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with unprecedented enthusiasm. Skill and recognition comes with knowledge, and the curious mind of Sw@t is what drives her to make new connections with like minded heads from across Canada, and abroad promoting herself and others while gaining more knowledge and respect from her drum&bass peers.
Being directly involved with the classic d&b weekly Extra Strength Saturday’s it was the inception that would evolve as promoters and heads alike began to take note of the sounds of dj Sw@t. An evolution that would get her booked at numerous club nights and grimey all night events, locally and across the nation; so much so that she had enough of a following to make a new stamp on the scene with her own production camp known as Hi-Rev. While not only representing her hometown and sound, it was clear that there needed to be better representation for the ladies making real moves in the national scene by starting the collective known as DNB Girls Of Canada to show the nation that this isn’t just a boys club.
Well rounded in the sounds of drum&bass, and dubstep it’s clear that Sw@t is turning heads from her guest appearances on Bassdrive’s rinse-out radio, podcasts for djvibe.com to her own live radio show on KrisisDnB and more recently on Global Vortex Radio, it really is hard not pay attention. With interviews for Kmag online, ravescum.com and djvibe.com she’s gaining well deserved hype and her onslaught of dj mixes, and charisma are to blame. Her mixing style is her own with banging bass-heavy anthems to liquid and soulful sounds, Sw@t is a true selector, she’s a crowd pleaser who hypes party-goers with choice tunes and dub plates, keeping her style eclectic and fresh.
Like ripping people bass-faces off with diverse and energetic track selections wasn’t enough, Sw@t expands her skills into the studio releasing a soulful dubstep jam “Base Case” in 2009 and more recently her collaboration with notorious Inside Info on the d&b smasher “Awkward”, released July 12th on Viper recordings. Just goes to show that her ride doesn’t stop there while the demand for Sw@t to stay on top of her game becomes more and more evident. Watch this space.

CGR_GV15 is up!! CG Radio Takeover feat. Ninjette
Ninjette took over our airwaves for the night with an exclusive electro house mix!!
NINJETTE

[Elektrik Kollektive]
Fresh out of the prairies, and straight into the mountains of British Columbia, this young scenster has been a busy girl in the Canadian electronic music scene. Staying involved in most of the major club nights throughout the city of Winnipeg over the course of several years, she used her drive and ambition to become a leader in the underground afterhours scene. Most recently involved in the Elektrik Kollektive Members Only Afterhours, she continuously pushed to bring about the vibe that the music deserves by promoting events locally. Observing her local influences as well as international artists, she took all she had learned to launch her blossoming DJ career, and spread her love of mixing and music across the country. Behind the decks, she uses her passion and energy to inspire the dancer that lurks within us all, with the funnest, dirtiest, high energy beats, guaranteed to burn a hole in your shoes!
Hope you enjoy this one as much as we did!!

CGR_GV016 - DJ Abyde w Element01
Hello all,
This past show we had Element01 on the decks to start that murdered your ear drums for the first 45 min
Then our special guest DJ Abyde killed it for sure...you will hear him again on our show for sure!!
DL the mix here:
CGR_GV016
Here is a lil info on DJ Abyde

www.soundcloud.com/abyde
www.facebook.com/djabyde
DJ abYde discovered electronic music in 1997 when he heard a Dj Hype mixtape and was instantly hooked on Jungle/Drum N Bass. The following year he bought his first set of turntables and started learning how to mix. Soon after he would get his first gig at aLive, a DNB night run by Connect Beats in New Haven, CT. That night would prove to be the first of many behind the decks, playing a blistering combination of Tech Step and Neurofunk, electrifying the crowd with his tight mixing and top notch selection. Over the next few years he played at DNB nights in CT and NYC and was a regular on several internet radio shows on Phuture Frequency Radio hosted by Downbeat Productions. In 2003 he started his own DNB weekly in New Haven called Acceleration which saw such acts as DJ Seen, Dj Link (RIP), Eskmo and Garon. In the following years abYde started learning how to produce music, and in 2008 saw his first release called "Skum" on Connect Beats' multi-genre album entitled "Synthetic Genetics". This experience helped to broaden his musical horizons and he began spinning and writing Electro House and Dubstep. His recent DJ mix called The Bass Jump part 1 is an example of his musical evolution as it features an arsenal of bass heavy Electro House music intended to murder any dancefloor upon detonation.
You can download the mix at www.soundcloud.com/abyde.
You can catch abYde at Control V3 at The Acoustic Cafe in Bridgeport, CT on May 28th alongside Sol.Id and Reset from Start.
Tune in next time and subscribe to this podcast!!

NC-17 Joins Cyber Groove AM
NC-17 Joins Cyber Groove AM
NC-17
Now available for all North American offers

CG AM Profile: www.CyberGrooveAM.com/nc17.html
Viper Recordings, Renegade Hardware, Big Riddim, Proximity, DSCI4, Mac II
NC-17 is a Drum & Bass duo of talented artists based in Toronto, Canada consisting of Peter & Shawn. Their namesake refers to the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) rating system which undertakes that an NC-17 rating film would be one based around violence, sex, aberrational behaviour, drug abuse or any other element that most parents would consider too intense for viewing by their children. The group’s love of movies is reflected not only in their name, but equally in their music, combining both NC-17 rating style hardness and a cinematic edge that any fan of Drum & Bass will understand. Crafting music that works not only in an artistic capacity, but also as a catalyst to making clubbers shake their collective booties!
Originally starting out with Peter in 2004, NC-17 became a two man operation in 2007 when Korosiv joined the ranks to form one of the most promising acts in the Canadian scene. Initially learning their craft from Impulse of Corrupt Souls fame, the boys began to draw on a huge range of musical and audio-visual influences to create their own unique sound.
Working together as a unit, NC-17 is held together by an obviously close friendship and individual roles within the group. Peter is the eldest of the group and comes from a musical family (his mother was a singer in Turkey during her early 20s). He houses the main NC-17 studio and is an experienced DJ, promoter, producer and University educated film maker. Shawn, a professional drummer and the son of a sound engineer who toured with the likes of Pink Floyd is originally from Ohio. As soon as the two got into the studio together they knew they had something special to offer and Canada’s most promising Drum & Bass production outfit was born.
Citing inspiration from as far and wide as the Goblin, Dario Argento, Wu-Tang Clan, Led Zeppelin, Beastie Boys, Lucio Fulci, Fabio Frizzi, Konflict, Ed Rush, Trace, Jeff Mills, DJ Randall and Pink Floyd it’s clear to see that NC-17 have a solid foundation to build on and already their own musical output is featuring not only in their regular DJ slots around their home city, but also in the sets of DJs as world renowned as Andy C, Ed Rush, Optical, Randall, Pendulum, Trace, Bad Company, Red One, Shimon & many more.
Signing their first two hard hitting tracks to Sinuous Recordings in 2004, there’s now no stopping this duo who have lined up releases on Viper Recordings, Hardware, Proximity, DSCI4, MAC II, Circle, Sudden Def, and many more to come.
