DJ Ian Pearce

Ian Pearce is known for his ability to rock out packed warehouses & clubs with his ecletic choice of breaks, electro, and dubstep. Being born and living in Phoenix, AZ for 21 years, Ian became well aquainted with the broken beat scene and decided to make a name for himself. After earning his bachelors degree in just three years, he moved to southern California or a career in genetic research during late 2007 which turned out to be a huge & unexpected change of pace for him. He soon realized the breaks scene was small to nothing, and that the house scene was blowing up. While it seemed frustrating at first, he had his first breakthrough gig in October of 2008, having completely smashed the dancefloor at a halloween underground warehouse party (New World Order by CaliToxic Productions). Not only was the crowd mesmerized by the new sound he was delivering, but the fellow dj's and production crew was blown away by his complete and utter slaying of the crowd. Immediately afterwards, he was asked to join CaliToxic and aquired a huge role in the production crew. From then on, he knew it was time to help introduce and accelerate the sound of broken beats to southern California by circulating them in the mix with the house music that everyone could recognize. When dubstep became the new "black" in early 2009, he acquired a distinguished taste for it and began incorporating the evil, wobbling sounds into his set. "I've always believed that no one should have to listen to the speakers pound out the same style or genre of sound for an hour or more. The crowd becomes easily bored, and by circulating multiple genres, everybody's ass' are moving throughout my entire set." Ian Pearce has a huge list of important influences in his musical profession, grabbing inspiration from local artists (Dj Louder, Breaks Inc, Dstro), while also looking up to famed producers/dj's such as Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, Deekline, Dopamine, 4Kuba, Reid Speed, & Quadrat Beat just to name a few. You can definitely see a huge effort in Ian's performances by the creativity and work ethic he puts forth. From custom edits, meticulous beat matching, technological programming, and basic DJ fundamentals, Ian Pearce puts on a performance, and not just a DJ set. In just two short years, Ian Pearce has accomplished and exceeded all of his goals. He has been producing, making edits, & remixing. He has also earned a residency at weekly in Phoenix, AZ(The Pound), another at a weekly in Vista, CA (The Royal Dive), another in San Diego (Stereo House Sundays @ The Beauty Bar), thrown a huge & very successful underground party in San Diego (New World Order II), and opened for Frankie Bones (Can For A Cause), all while holding down a full time job as an engineer for a genetic research company. His love for music and making people dance is ever-growing, and he currently is planning for his first breakbeat/electro release in the Fall of 2010, which will feature both remixes and original material. Keep on the lookout for this young and promising artist, as his music will move you and keep you.

See you next time around!!

Cheers.
