Info about DJ Illy



Known in Chapel Hill for his mixtapes, DJ Illy recently decided to return after a ten year hiatus from the music scene. As a DJ in Seattle from 1997 through 2001 Illy was known for bringing a taste of the dirty south out in his rap and dancehall sets. If it was taboo to play odds are he would. Today the genre, crowd and location have changed but the bass hasnít. Focusing on dubstep and electro-house, Illy currently hosts a dubstep show Wednesday nights in Chapel Hill and is expanding the areaís EBM/IBM scene. Dropping dark sounds is a typical night for Illy as he frequently joins area IBM artists for shows. Illyís influences include Deadmau5, Wolfgang Gartner, Cold Blank, Darth & Vader, Datsik, Excision, Nero, Benga, and Doctor P to name a few. As a producer/remixer and DJ, Illy is continuing to expand the electronic scene at clubs throughout central North Carolina and currently working in the production studio
